Two-time All-American goaltender, Karl Goehring, will begin his first season with the Tommie men’s hockey team in 2025-26.

The North Dakota alum (’01) is coming off six seasons behind the bench with the Fighting Hawks, where he helped UND to a 137-67-16 record from 2019-25 with four Penrose Cup titles, one NCHC Tournament Championship, and three NCAA tournament appearances. Goehring also spent two seasons coaching in the AHL for the Syracuse Crunch (2017-19).

He is the all-time winningest goaltender in North Dakota history with 80 wins from 1997-2001. The Apple Valley, Minn. native led the Fighting Hawks (then Fighting Sioux) to a NCAA Championship title in 2000. He posted a 19-6-4 record with a 1.89 GAA and .927 GAA that season.

Goehring continued his record setting ways with a strong professional career. He retired after eight years of pro hockey as the Syracuse Crunch’s all-time leader in wins (78).
