Tom's 2025-26 sports assignments: Football, Track & Field

Tom Olson joined the St. Thomas Athletic Training staff in 2021. Olson serves as a Certified Athletic Trainer, working primarily with football and assisting with sprinters and horizontal jumpers with track & field.

He previously worked with women’s soccer for the 2021-2022 season. He, along with the entire St. Thomas Athletic Training Staff, provides services for St. Thomas athletes via Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) and its partnership with the university.

Prior to St. Thomas, Olson worked as an Athletic Trainer at Minnesota State Mankato where he worked with both the football and baseball teams. Before his time at Minnesota State, Tom served as an Athletic Trainer at Minnesota Duluth, where he worked with the baseball and men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Prior to beginning his career in athletic training Olson graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2017. Olson graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he also played football for five years, and was a part of the 2010 national championship team. Olson also served as team captain of UMD football in 2013.

Olson was born and raised in Coon Rapids, Minn. He currently resides in Hudson, Wis., with his wife Josèe and their two sons, Lincoln and Oliver.
