Kubacki most recently served as the assistant defensive line coach at South Dakota State during the 2022 season and was with St. Thomas in a variety of roles from 2012-16.

Kubacki helped South Dakota State to an NCAA DI FCS National Championship last season behind the nation’s best rushing defense, allowing just 88.1 yards per game. The Jackrabbit defense ranked second in total defense (274.1 ypg) and third in scoring defense (15.8 ppg) on its way to a 14-1 record and the program’s first DI national title. The defensive line contributed to 2.60 sacks per game and 4.40 tackles for a loss per game, which ranked ninth in the country. Kubacki coached Caleb Sanders, who went on to earn selections to five All-America squads following the season, and Reece Winkelman, who was named to the CSC Academic All-America Team.

Previously, Kubacki spent the last five season at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He helped the Oles improve their record from 2-8 (1-7 MIAC) in 2016 to 4-6 overall (3-5 MIAC) in 2017 to consecutive 5-5 seasons in 2018, 2019, 2021. After starting the 2018 season with five-straight wins, St. Olaf received its first vote in the D3football.com Top 25 since 2012.

In his five seasons at St. Olaf, Kubacki had coached eight honorable mention all-MIAC honorees and two second-team all-conference selections.

Prior to joining St. Olaf, Kubacki spent the previous five seasons with St. Thomas, where he coached on both sides of the ball. He mentored the Tommies' linebackers from 2012-13, the defensive line from 2014-15 and the tight ends in 2016. He helped St. Thomas reach the Division III national championship game (Stagg Bowl) and post 14-1 records in 2012 and 2015. During his tenure, Kubacki helped the Tommies achieve a cumulative 56-8 record. He coached nine all-MIAC players, two all-region performers, one All-America honoree and one Mike Stam Award winner (top MIAC lineman).

Kubacki played linebacker at the University of North Dakota from 2007-2008 before suffering a career-ending injury.

Kubacki graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation, park and leisure, and earned a master’s degree in sports management in 2013 from Concordia University, St. Paul.
