Joe Ties returned to St. Thomas as the inside linebackers coach in 2020 after previously spending the 2016 and 2017 seasons working on the Tommie staff.
Earlier last decade, Ties spent two seasons as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Rochester Community and Technical College. Rochester became the second non-scholarship juco program to advance to the national championship game. His 2014 Yellowjacket defense ranked first nationally in sacks (67). In 24 games over two seasons, RCTC also ranked among the national leaders with a combined 53 interceptions and 14 defensive TDs.
From 2002-2013 Joe coached at Rochester Mayo High, with duties as defensive coordinator, linebackers and running backs.
Ties lives in Eagan with his three children: Raegen (13), Miles (11) and Rollan (8).
