Jake Landry enters his 13th season in college football for the 2023 season, his second as the quarterback coach and offensive coordinator for St. Thomas.
Landry joined the Tommies in 2022 after spending the last three seasons at Temple.
Under Landry's guidance, the Purple offense took a leap forward during its 2022 Pioneer Football League championship run. The Tommies led the PFL scoring 32.6 points per game and was fourth with 378.0 yards per game. Offensive lineman Matt Weimann earned a selection to the Phil Steele Magazine All-America Fourth Team after helping the offense rank tied for fifth in the FCS with 45 tackles for loss allowed and tied for 10th with 12 sacks allowed. Landry also led the Tommie offense to rank tied for 11th in FCS with a 48.2 percent third-down conversion rate and 21st with 200.2 rushing yards per game.
Prior to serving as the quarterback coach for Temple in 2021, Landry was the running back coach at Northern Illinois University in 2018. Landry was part of the staff at NIU that won the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship. Landry coached running back Tre Harbison who was named to the All-MAC Second Team in 2018 after rushing for 1,034 yards and five touchdowns. Harbison was the first 1,000-yard rusher since 2015 at NIU. Harbison signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2021.
Before going back to NIU, Landry spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the offensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where he led the offense to two of the most productive seasons in program history. With Landry at the helm, the Eagles posted two of the top-five yardage totals in school history, while the passing attack led the WIAC both years. Landry was named the 2017 WIAC Co-Assistant Coach of the Year following the 2017 season when UW-L finished 8-2 to record its most wins since 2006.
Landry spent three seasons at NIU (2013-2015). During that time, he worked with the quarterbacks (2013, 2015) and linebackers (2014), helping NIU reach three bowl games and average 31.1 points per game in 2015. In his three seasons, Northern Illinois went to the MAC Championship game all three seasons.
Prior to his first stint at NIU, Landry spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. During his tenure in Duluth, the Bulldogs won two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Divisional titles and won 21 games. Additionally, UMD averaged a school record 46 points per game in 2012.
Landry played quarterback at the University of North Dakota from 2007-10. Landry was the team’s starting quarterback and served as team captain his final two seasons at UND.
Landry received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of North Dakota in 2011 and earned his first master’s degree from Minnesota Duluth in 2015 and received an additional master's degree from NIU in 2020.
