David Caponigri is starting his third season on the Tommie football staff in 2021. He will be coaching the Running Backs for the Tommie Offense. Last season he coached the Inside Linebackers for the Tommie Defense.

Coach Caponigri served as defensive coordinator for Park High School for the 2016-18 seasons. Prior to that he coached 9th grade football at Park and 7th & 8th grade at Oltman Middle School.

A Schaumburg, Ill., native, he played on a 1999 Illinois prep state runner-up team.

A 2005 St. Thomas graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education, Caponigri also holds a Master’s degree in Education-Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

When not coaching at St. Thomas, Caponigri will start his 13th year teaching mathematics in South Washington County schools. He lives in Hastings with his wife Tracy and daughters, Gabriella (10), Amelia (8), and Charlotte (6).
