Addison Gumbs joined the St. Thomas football coaching staff in spring 2025 as the defensive line coach. This will be his first season with the Tommies.
Gumbs brings experience from his time at the University of Arizona, where he served as the defensive graduate assistant during the 2024 season. In this role, he worked closely with the linebackers and current Arizona defensive coordinator Danny Gonzales.
Prior to his tenure at Arizona, Gumbs was a foundational member of the Lincoln University (CA) football program. At Lincoln, he served in multiple roles as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator in the 2022 and 2023 seasons before being promoted to the defensive coordinator at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Gumbs played a pivotal role in establishing the program’s defensive identity and building it’s recruiting pipeline.
As a former Division 1 athlete, Gumbs was an outside linebacker for both Oregon State and Oklahoma. He was a member of the 2017 Sooners Big 12 championship team and made his first career start at Oregon State in 2019 after recovering from an ACL injury.
“I am thrilled to have Addison Gumbs on our coaching staff. His dedication, passion and knowledge of the game will be great for our program.” -Glenn Caruso
