Women’s Cross Country starts season Saturday at Phoenix Open

Tommies to run 6K at 11:30 a.m. in Green Bay, Wis.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas opens its 2026 campaign Friday at the Phoenix Open, competing in a 6,000-meter race beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Phoenix Alumni Cross Country Course at Shorewood Park in Green Bay, Wis.

PREVIEWING 2026/REVIEWING 2025
The Tommies were picked fifth in the 2026 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll after collecting 23 points, while sophomores Lindsay Berg and Olivia Pauly were named to the League's Athletes to Watch list. Berg returns after placing 28th at the 2025 Summit League Championships in 21:40.0 and recording a season-best 6K time of 21:18.0 at the Bradley Pink Classic. Pauly enters her junior season after earning second-team All-League honors in 2025, when she placed 10th at the League Championships in a program-record 21:01.5.
The Tommies are coming off a historic 2025 season that saw Pauly earn first-team All-League honors after breaking the program's 6K record, while St. Thomas placed fifth at the Summit League Championships with three runners among the top 28 and five among the top 40. The Tommies also joined the men's team as the first St. Thomas Athletics squads to compete in an NCAA postseason event at the NCAA Midwest Regional. St. Thomas opened last season with a team victory at the Phoenix Open, followed by a third-place finish at the Joe Piane Invitational, and placed three runners among the top 45 at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational. Pauly led the Tommies at five of seven meets, while Berg led the team at the Bradley Pink Classic and finished second for St. Thomas at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

The women's and men's squads compete next on Friday, Sept. 18 at the Cyclone Open hosted by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa.
