Tommies earn third straight AVCA Academic Award in 2025-26

St. Thomas volleyball tallies GPAs of 3.54 in the Fall and 3.61 in the Spring
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Thomas volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the AVCA announced Thursday.
The Tommies recorded a 3.54 GPA during the fall semester and improved it to 3.61 this past spring. Addison Schmotzer, Reilly Kurth and Anya Schmidt each earned perfect 4.0 GPAs both semesters, while Camryn Overton recorded a 4.0 GPA over the spring.
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
The Tommies have earned the academic award during 12 of the past 15 seasons overall, including two distinctions to the AVCA Honor Roll.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. Marquette has earned the honor 11 times, including in each of the last seven academic years.

With a broad mandate to develop the sport, the AVCA provides leadership, recognition, advocacy, and professional development opportunities to over 8,200 volleyball coaches.
