Tommies fall in high scoring battle

Tommie offense tallies 17 hits
BROOKINGS, S.D.- The St. Thomas Tommies fall 16-13 to the SDSU Jackrabbits in a high scoring battle on Friday afternoon. The Tommie offense tallied 17 hits on the afternoon; Easton Fritcher, Owen Bond, and Nolan Welke each had three.
Scoring Summary
The Jackrabbits opened the scoring in the first plating three and took an early 3-0 lead. The Tommies got on the board in the third plating two of their own. Tanner Recchio's double scored Nolan Welke, and Easton Fritcher's stand up triple brought in Recchio.
St. Thomas took the lead in the fourth plating two and taking a 5-3 lead. Matthew Maulik brought in Owen Bond who tripled in the inning. Nolan Welke then drove in Adam Puder and Max Berrisford to give the Tommies the lead.
The Tommies then extended their lead in the fifth in a big way plating six in the fifth to extend the lead to 11-3. Puder, Von Schlegell, and Welke led the charge in the inning.
SDSU then tied the game at 11 in the bottom half of the sixth. The Jackrabbits took the lead 12-11 in the sixth.
Joe Roder then gave the Tommies the 13-12 lead in the seventh with a two-run single, scoring Nolan Welke and Tanner Recchio. SDSU then took a 15-13 lead in the bottom of the seventh. The Jackrabbits tallied one in the bottom of the ninth, extending their lead to 16-13.
