McNellis leads offense with three hits
EVANSTON, ILL.- St. Thomas falls to Northwestern ## in a midweek matchup. Lucas McNellis led the Tommie offense once again with three hits, a double, and a home run.
Scoring Summary
The Tommies struck first in the top of the first plating two in the top half of the first inning. Joe Roder brought in Recchio on a sacrifice fly and Lucas McNellis scored Owen Bond after he doubled down the rightfield line.
Northwestern responded in the second scoring three off an RBI double. Easton Fritcher tied the game at three in the fourth when his RBI brought in Zan Von Schlegell, who reached on a double.
The Wildcats then plated four runs in the fourth to take a 7-3 lead over the Purple.
Lucas McNellis hit a solo home run in the seventh to cut the deficit to three and make the score 7-4. Adam Puder also chipped in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Max Berrisford.
Northwestern then put up eight in the bottom of the seventh to win 15-5.
Up Next
The Tommies will continue their road trip down to Omaha to take on the Mavericks in a conference battle April 24-26.
