Tommies win suspended game two
ST. PAUL, MINN. - The St. Thomas Tommies wrapped up a wild weather weekend with a split with the Northern Colorado Golden Bears on Sunday.
Game two:
The Tommies jumped out to a early 3-0 in the bottom of the first with RBIs from Easton Fritcher, Lucas McNellis, and Max Berrisford.
Tanner Recchio scored on a pass ball in the bottom of the second to extend the Purple lead to 4-0. Nolan Welke also scored on a pass ball in an inning to make it 5-0 Tommies.
The Golden Bears responded with a two-run home run in the fourth, cutting the deficit to three. Northern Colorado hit another home run in the fifth to make the score 5-3.
Joe Roder added two more the Tommies in the bottom of the fifth after his triple brough in Nolan Welke and Zan Von Schelgell.
Easton Fritcher kept the momentum going with an inside the park home run the brought in Joe Roder, making the score 9-3 Tommies after six.
Two doubles from Recchio and Bond added two more Tommie runs in the 7th, giving them a 11-3 lead. The game was then suspended in the top of the ninth due to darkness and resumed Sunday morning.
Game three:
The Golden Bears jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by scoring two in the first and one in the second.
The Tommies then responded in the bottom of the second plating two, cutting the deficit to one. Tanner Recchio and Joe Roder tallied RBI singles for the Purple.
Recchio then took matters into his own hands and scored on a throwing error after stealing third, knotting the game at three.
St. Thomas took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh off a Lucas McNellis double that scored Joe Roder who also doubled.
The Golden Bears threatened in the top of the eighth with bases loaded and just one out but Max Skilbeck and the Tommie infield worked out of a jam and left them scoreless.
Northern Colorado then scored two off a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to take a 5-4 lead.
Easton Fritcher came up big in the bottom of the ninth hitting a solo home run to tie the game at 5 and send it to extras.
Northern Colorado then scored one in the top of the 10th to secure the win.

The Tommies will hit the road to take on the Milwaukee Panthers Tuesday, April 21st at 3:00 p.m. and the Northwestern Wildcats Wednesday, April 22nd at 3:30 p.m.
