Fourth ROTW for Van Vliet this season after two goal weekend

ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas Men's Hockey (20-11-5) survived the Mason Cup Quarterfinals and advanced to the Semis for the second season in a row in large part due to the clutch scoring of Lucas Van Vliet. The freshman has been named CCHA Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season after his two-goal weekend.

Van Vliet scored the Tommies' game-winning goal at 17:23 of the third period under two minutes after Lake State tied the game at two. The goal was Lucas' fourth game-winner of the season, a team-best. He added a second goal into the empty Laker net to seal the deal.

The Michigan native T-9th in the CCHA with 13 goals, a single season program-record for Tommie freshmen, he is T-8th in assists with 21, and 6th with 34 points, also a program-record. Van Vliet was named a finalist for the conference's Rookie of the Year.

This is his fourth Rookie of the Week this season, a program best. He last won the award on January 20 and first won it on November 24. This is the 15th weekly honor of the season for the Tommies.
