ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas men's hockey forward, Lucas Wahlin has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL), the organization announced on Wednesday, March 25.
Wahlin played 137 games across four seasons for the Tommies, he scored 56 goals and finished with 131 points for the Purple, both DI program records.
A three-year captain, Wahlin became the first Tommie to surpass 100 career points and the first to reach 50 goals during the DI era. He concluded his career as the all-time leading scorer in the current iteration of the CCHA.
This past season, Wahlin was named the conference's Defensive Forward of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year. He earned All-CCHA honors three times, including two first-team selections.
In addition to his goal scoring, Wahlin recorded a program-record 75 assists and 117 career blocked shots, the latter ranking third in program history.
Wahlin served as a cornerstone of a senior class that helped build St. Thomas men's hockey from the ground up during its transition to Division I. He captained the Tommies to consecutive Mason Cup Final appearances and a pair of second place finishes in the regular season standings.
