Baseball drops game one at New Mexico

Puder leads offense with three hits
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The St. Thomas Tommies plate six runs but come up short, falling 11-6 to the New Mexico Lobos. The Purple out hit the Lobos at a 15 to 11 clip. Adam Puder led the offense with three hits.
Scoring Summary:
The Tommies struck first scoring in the top of the first. Tanner Recchio led off the game with a bunt single, stole second and advanced to third on a sac fly from Joe Roder. Matthew Maulik came through with the RBI.
St. Thomas added one in the second when Zan Von Schlegell hit a one out triple, Terek Verhage brought him in off an RBI single. New Mexico then plated six in the bottom of the second to take a 6-2 lead.
The Lobos then tallied one more run in the third, taking a 7-2 lead. A solo home run in the fourth extended the Lobos lead to 8-2.
The Tommies plated two in the fifth; Lucas McNellis and Verhage picked up the RBIs, cutting the deficit to 8-4.
New Mexico then added two in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-4 lead.
St. Thomas responded plating two of their own after Recchio and Roder pick up RBIs, making the score 10-6.
The Lobos extended their to 11-6 in the bottom of the seventh off a solo home run.

The Tommies will be back for games two and three of the series, tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 28. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT.
