Tough competition on deck for Softball at Crimson Classic

The Tommies play five this weekend including two against #7 Alabama
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas softball team (11-4) is off to its best start in program history with winning records in each of the first three weekends to start 2026. Their level of competition kicks up a notch this weekend with the Crimson Classic. The Purple have won four in a row by a combined score of 39-6 with three straight run-rule victories. Ella Cook led the Tommies at the plate and in the circle with her first Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
All five of their games will be played at Rhoads Stadium with first pitch of game one against Kent State (8-6) scheduled for 1:30 pm on Friday, February 27. Game two against #7 Alabama (14-0) is scheduled for 4:00 pm following the first game against the Golden Flashes. Day two begins with a 4:00 pm first pitch against South Florida (15-5) and concludes with a 6:30 pm first pitch against Kent State. St. Thomas' final game of the weekend is against Alabama with an 11:30 am first pitch on Sunday.
The Tommies are 1-0 against South Florida with a 10-4 win back in 2022. Cassidy Carby was the only current Tommie in the lineup that day, she went 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored. The Purple are 0-2 with a pair of losses in 2024 to the Alabama Crimson Tide. They have never played Kent State.
