Mathis Guffroy inks professional contract with Charlotte Independence

The Tommies’ second-team All-Summit Leaguer will play in the USL League One

ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas men's soccer standout, Mathis Guffroy has signed a professional contract with the Charlotte Independence of the USL League One. Guffroy played 16 games for the Purple, scored five goals and assisted on four for 14 points.

It was a short but fruitful Tommie career for Mathis who led St. Thomas with 25 shots on goal, and three game-winning goals during his one season in St. Paul. He was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team and All-Summit League Second Team.

The Charlotte Independence is a Division III professional men's soccer team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The club, founded in 2014, currently competes in USL League One and plays home games at American Legion Memorial Stadium and Mecklenburg County Sportsplex of Matthews.
