Tommie Women’s hockey set to recognize senior class on Saturday

ST. PAUL, MINN- The (RV) Tommie women's hockey team (12-19-1, 7-18-1) is set for the final weekend of the regular season, facing No. 15 Minnesota State (13-17-2, 7-17-2) on home ice. Puck drop is slated for 2:00 p.m. both Friday, February 20th and Saturday, February 21st. 

 

On Saturday, Feb. 21 Tommie Hockey will celebrate our four incredible seniors. Be sure to arrive too Lee & Penny Anderson Arena early for the pre-game celebration.

Tommie Seniors 

Tommie Women's Hockey will graduate four seniors in 2026: 

- Senior forward, Sadie Lindsay has played 64 games, tallying five goals and six assists during her two years at St. Thomas. Sadie has also been named a three-time WCHA All-Academic team honoree and a 2025-26 WCHA Scholar Athlete. 

- 2025-26 Captain Haley Maxwell has played 139 games for the Purple & Gray, scoring four goals, tallying 22 assists, and 188 blocks. The senior defender is a three-time WCHA Scholar Athlete and All-Academic Team honoree. 

- Senior goalie, Maggie Malecha has played in 27 games for the Tommies and tallied 373 saves in the net. Maggie has also been named a three-time WCHA All-Academic honoree and 2025-26 WCHA Scholar Athlete. 

- Senior goalie, Julia Minotti joined the Tommies this season and has played 27 games for the Purple and Gray. Julia has totaled 664 saves this year and holds a .906 save percentage. 

 

Last Time Out 

The Tommies fell 3-0 in both games during their last regular-season road series at No. 10 Minnesota Duluth. 

 

WCHA Honors  

The Tommies have received four weekly league honors so far this season. Rylee Bartz leads the way with two forwards of the week honors. 

Rylee Bartz – Forward of the week (Sept. 22 & Nov. 10) 

Ellah Hause – Defender of the week (Oct. 20) 

Jenessa Gazdik –Defender of the week (Nov. 10) 

 

WCHA Leader Board 

As a team, the Purple sits first in penalty minutes per game with the lowest in the league at 4:48, third in faceoff winning percentage at .553, and blocked shots with a  12.59 per game average. 

 

Individually, Ella Boerger is third in the face off winning percentage category with a .630. Rylee Bartz is fourth overall in face-off wins/total face-offs with 376 wins out of 637. 

 

Jenessa Gazdik sits third overall in the league with 58 blocked shots, while Ellah Hause is just behind her at 57. Haley Maxwell is in sixth with 53. 

 

DI Era Record Holders 

Rylee Bartz now holds the single season goal record with 15 in the season as she surpassed Ella Boerger's previous record with 11. 

 
Boerger has also surpassed the single season assists record of 13 that she and Bartz previously held. Ella now has 16 assists on the season and is now the sole single season assists leader. 

 

Rylee Bartz (66), Ella Boerger (63), and Madison Brown (53) make up the top three in career points. 

Ella Boerger (40), and Rylee Bartz (33), round out the top two in D1 era assists.  

Rylee Bartz leads the Tommie offense with 33 career goals in the D1 era. 

 

Scouting the Mavericks 

The Mavericks currently hold a 13-17-2 overall and are sixth in the WCHA with 7-17-2 conference record.  

 

Freshman forward, Mercury Bischoff leads the Mavericks with 17 goals on the season. Defender Lauren Zawoyski leads the team in assists with 16.  

 

Minnesota State's head coach Shari Dickerman was named a assistant coach for Team USA earlier this year and is at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan as Team USA pursues Gold. Associate head coach Jeff Giesen has stepped in as head coach during her absence. 

 

History with the Mavericks 

The Tommies hold a 6-13 all-time record against the Minnesota State Mavericks. Most recently, the two squads split the series back in October 2025. The Purple came away with a 2-1 overtime victory in game one before falling 3-0 in game two in Mankato.
