Tommies top Huskies 3-2 in overtime

JuliAnna Gazdik nets two for the purple
ST. PAUL, MIINN. - St. Thomas Women's Hockey (11-16-0, 6-15-0) top the St. Cloud State Huskies (8-17-2, 4-15-2) 3-2 in overtime on Friday afternoon. JuliAnna Gazdik netted two goals for the Tommies and Rylee Bartz netted the game winner.
Today's win marks the most in program history since making to move to division one.
This game marks the third time the Tommies and Huskies have gone to overtime this season.
JuliAnna Gazdik, Rylee Bartz, and Ellah Hause all tally two points in today's win.
Scoring Summary:
First Period: The first period flew by as it was a defensive battle with very few stoppages. The Tommies were able to take a lead into the break as JuliAnna Gazdik netted her third of the season with less than a minute remaining. Rylee Bartz and Ellah Hause chipped in the assists.
Second Period: St. Cloud scored the lone goal of the period on a power play to knot the game at one heading into the third.
Third Period: The Huskies took a 2-1 lead with 5 minutes to play, JuliAnna Gazdik then netted her second of the day with a minute thirty left to knot the contest at two. Ella Boerger was credited with the assist. The game remained at two for the rest of regulation.
Overtime: St. Cloud State was called for a body checking penalty just a minute and 13 seconds into overtime, sending the Tommies on a powerplay. Rylee Bartz scored the game winner about 3 minutes into the overtime to seal the victory for the purple. Hause and Maxwell tallied the game winning assists. Hause's second of the game.
