Tommies return to South Field to take on Phoenix
ST. PAUL, MINN.- St. Thomas women's soccer (2-3-1) will face the Green Bay Phoenix (1-5-1) for their final non-conference home match of the season.
The Tommies are returning home after a trip out west. St. Thomas fell to the Eastern Washington Eagles 2-1. The second game of the trip against the Idaho State Bengals was ruled a no contest due to a weather cancellation.
Senior McKenna Lehman scored the lone Tommie goal, hitting the back of the net from outside the box.
Kick-off against Green Bay is set for Sunday, September 14th at 1 p.m. St. Thomas women's soccer would like to invite all Tommie soccer alumni back to south field to celebrate alumni day.
Jacobson leading the way
Graduate student Mackenzie Jacobson has been a phenomenal addition to the Tommie offense.
Jacobson has recorded five points on the season, leading the Purple in both goals and assists, with two of each.
Rowe Toms
Graduate student goalkeeper, Olivia Rowe is making the most of her last season in the net for the Tommies.
Rowe has started all six games in goal for the purple and has recorded a .824 save percentage thus far.
Through six games Rowe and the St. Thomas defense has posted 3 shutouts, two shut victories and one tie.
Scouting the Phoenix
The Phoenix hold a 1-5-1 record this season, their lone win coming over Western Illinois on Sept. 4th Green Bay also tied with Illinois State back on Aug. 24th.
Junior Ryann Hafenbrak and sophomore Senah Hanes lead the Phoenix offense each with three goals on the season.
Green Bay is led by first year head coach Matt Kagan. This is the third time in history these two teams will face off. The Tommies are 1-1 versus the Phoenix.
