ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas football seniors Den Juette (Fenwick, Ill. / Fenwick) and Ryan Sever (Edina, Minn. / Benilde-St. Margaret) made plenty of headlines during the 2024 season. Two of the Tommies top returners for 2025, the seniors earned preseason praise Tuesday afternoon, as the duo were two of just 30 student-athletes named to the Preseason All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) Team Tuesday afternoon.

The Preseason All-PFL team is voted on by the league's 11 head coaches, and members of the ballot are nominated by the conference's sports information and athletic communications professionals. Returning members of the 2024 All-Conference teams are automatically eligible for nomination.

Both Juette and Sever are first time honorees and the first defensive players to earn the honor since 2023 when former standouts Jonathan Bunce and Yusef Leak were named Preseason First Team All-Conference by the PFL. They are the first Tommies in the DI era to earn Preseason All-Conference honors since the PFL started announcing just one preseason team prior to the 2024 season. The announcement comes 24 hours after St. Thomas was picked to finish third in the PFL Preseason Coaches Poll.

St. Thomas will officially kick off the 2025 season on Thursday, August 28 when the team hosts the Lindenwood Lions for the first time in the DI era. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota, and single game tickets are now on sale at www.tommiesports.com/tickets.
