ST. PAUL, MINN.  – Five individuals from the University of St. Thomas swim and dive program earned Academic All-District honors from the College of Sport Communicators (CSC). Elizabeth Bonneville (Lakeville, Minn. / Lakeville South), Charlie Folks (Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie), Sophia Hayes (Naperville, Ill. / Naperville Central) and Hattie Opdahl (Lindstrom, Minn. / Chisago Lakes) earned the prestigious honor for the first time in their careers while Alex Foti (Waukesha, Wis. / Wakuesha West) became the program's first three-time honoree of the Division I era.

To be considered for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be nominated by a member of their institution's athletic communications/sports information office and obtain certain academic and athletic standards. Student-athletes must compete in at least 50% of their team's contests in a given season and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.  All five St. Thomas honorees met the criteria, with four of the five earning Academic All-District honors for the first time in their Tommie careers.

Foti became the first three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree of the DI era after an outstanding senior season at St. Thomas. A business administration, finance major, Foti earned a 3.76 GPA and earned a place on the Tommies Summit League Championship team in February. At the conference championship, Foti earned top-16 finishes in both the 500 and 1650 freestyle and swam several top-10 times in program history. He also led the 800 freestyle relay team to a fifth place finish in the race to open the Summit League Championships and qualified for the "B" final of the 200 freestyle.

Folks once again put together a stellar season for St. Thomas and was one of three sophomores to earn Academic All-District honors. A first time honoree, Folks maintained a 3.58 GPA while majoring in exercise science and scoring points for the Tommies at the Summit League Championship. Folks qualified for either the "A" or "B" finals at the conference championships in three different individual races, including a top-8 finish in the 400 IM. Folks become the first swimmer in program history to complete the race in under four minutes and claimed seventh place with a PR and program record time of 3:59.85. He also earned top-16 finishes in the 500 and 1650 freestyle.

A multi-year Summit League Honor Roll member, Bonneville was named to the CSC Academic All-District list for the first time in her career with the Purple. A biology major, Bonneville maintained a 3.79 GPA throughout the swim season and qualified for the Summit League Championships in her fourth and final season with St. Thomas. As a senior, Bonneville earned a top-10 finish in the 400 IM at the conference championships and shattered the program record, setting it at 4:28.38. Bonneville earned multiple top-10 finishes at meets throughout 2024-25, including top-5 finishes at the Tommie invite and First Chance Meet.

Hayes and Opdahl were both named Academic All-District for the first time in their careers, earning the honor after strong sophomore campaigns with St. Thomas. Hayes, a sophomore accounting major, was one of the top swimmers for the Tommies at the Summit League Championships thanks to two top-8 finishes in the 500 and 1650 free races. At her second conference championships, Hayes earned a fifth place finish in the 1650 free with a PR and program record time of 17:14.45. She also set the program record in the 500 free earlier in the championship and led St. Thomas to a fifth place finish in the 800 freestyle relay.

Opdahl was the Tommies top diver throughout the 2024-25 season and was named Academic All-District after earning eight wins during the 2024-25 season. Opdahl won eight individual diving competitions in 2024-25 and was St. Thomas' top female diver at the Summit League Championships in February. Opdahl finished ninth in the 3 meter competition and tenth in the 1 meter, closing off her impressive season with yet another top-10 finish. She won or finished second in an individual diving competition in 12 different meets or invites during the season and finished first in both 1 meter and 3 meter in competitions against Green Bay, St. Cloud State, Augustana and Sioux Falls.
