Ava Kleinfeldt named Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week

The freshman tossed a pair of complete game victories over South Dakota State
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Ava Kleinfeldt led the Tommies (21-16 overall, 6-3 Summit League) to their first win over South Dakota State, and they first series win over the Jackrabbits, with two complete game performances over the weekend. She has been named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week.
She is the first Tommie in program history to be named the Summit League's Pitcher of the Week and the second Tommie to receive a weekly honor this season, also a program first.
Kleinfeldt worked her third complete game shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon in the Tommies' 6-0 win over the reigning regular season conference champs. She followed up that performance with a complete game win on Sunday in a 6-2 game.
She went 14 innings and allowed just the two runs for a 1.00 earned run average. She tallied a 1.14 WHIP and struck out six batters. The freshman is currently second in the Summit with a 1.71 conference-game ERA. Her season ERA of 3.06 leads the Tommies and would be a single-season program record if the season ended today.
