Men’s Hockey completes the sweep of Ferris State with 4-1 win
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Tommies (18-13-5 overall) completed the sweep of the Ferris State Bulldogs (13-20-3) and secured a spot in the Mason Cup Semifinal with a convincing 4-1 win on Saturday night at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.
Liam Malmquist recorded his second hat trick of the season (and second against Ferris State) after Grant Docter got the scoring started for the Tommies in the second period. Jake Sibell just missed out on his second shutout of the season with 25 saves on 26 shots. The Tommies won their 14th of 2025 (tied for the most in the country) and Sibell won his 11th straight start in goal.
Next week's opponent hangs in the balance and depends on the winner of tomorrow's game three between the Augustana Vikings and Bemidji State Beavers. If the Vikings win, the Toms will be on the road at Midco Arena, if the Beavers win, the Purple will host one final game at Saint Thomas Ice Arena against the Bowling Green Falcons.

Five minutes into the second period, Grant Docter broke the seal and scored for the second time this season. The Edina, Minn. native struck again at 15:01 from his linemates Wahlin and Matthew Gleason on a slapshot with no one in front of him but the goalie. He completed his second hat trick of the season with an empty net goal at 19:35 after the Bulldogs scored their only of the game at 17:57.
