MILWAUKEE, Wis. – St. Thomas Women's Soccer (4-4-1 overall) finished up its non-conference schedule with a 5-0 loss to the Marquette Golden Eagles (3-5-2 overall) at Valley Fields on Thursday evening. The Tommies head into conference play with a .500 record.
Olivia Rowe made four saves in net while Abby Brantner and Ellie Tempero played all 90 minutes in front of her on the back line of the defense.
Recap
The Marquette Golden Eagles got things started on the right foot in their fourth meeting against the St. Thomas Tommies. The home team scored a goal in the 11th minute.
That early goal was the only tally of the first half and one of just three shots-on-goal between the two sides in the opening 45. The Toms did not record a shot-on-goal during the frame.
57 seconds into the second half, the Golden Eagles doubled their lead and then added another three minutes later in the 49th. The Toms sent their first two shots-on-net towards Marquette goaltender, Elise Krone, who came into the game at halftime, in the 66th and 69th minutes.
Marquette tallied two more down the stretch to bring the score to its final stop, 5-0.
