Men take fourth behind four podium finishes, women place fifth after podium finish and two records

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The 2024 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships closed in dramatic fashion Saturday afternoon as St. Thomas track & field crown another league champion. Isaiah Hopf won the triple jump title to lead the men to a fourth place finish while the women saw two program records broken on its way to fifth place.

Four podium finishes helped the St. Thomas men to score 112 team points, 55 more than last year's outdoor championships, while Hopf is the third Tommie to win a league title. He recorded a personal record leap of 15.21 meters (49-feet-11-inches), which also ranks second all-time for the program, on his final attempt of the day to secure the title. Hopf joins Sam May and Nate Raddatz as all-time Summit League champions for the Tommies.

The 4x100m relay of Cassia Cady, Alexis Pratt, Taynian Walgrave and Rebecca Randleman landed a third-place podium finish behind a program record time of 45.91. The trip to the podium helped the women to 71 points after totaling 43 at last year's meet.

Pratt broke her own record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.01, finishing fourth with another fourth place finish in the 100m dash. Hailey Shimon nearly reached the podium with a fourth-place finish in the discus on a mark of 45.01m (147-8).

Jack Rosner captured his second medal of the meet with a third place finish in the 110m hurdles, running 14.14. Mitchell Piehl also earned a bronze medal with a personal record time of 21.40 in the 200m dash, which ranks third all-time at St. Thomas. The men's 4x400m relay of Calvin Bream, Thomas Dundon, John Morrison and Cameron Heppner closed the final event of the day with a third-place time of 3:15.94.

North Dakota State swept the league team titles as the men totaled 190 points and the women finished with 238.
