Tommies cap off spring practices with Saturday scrimmage
ST. PAUL, MINN. – Spring has been kind to the University of St. Thomas football team. After three weeks of intense practice and workouts, the Tommies will host their annual spring game at O'Shaughnessy Stadium on Saturday, May 4.
Kickoff for St. Thomas' intrasquad scrimmage is scheduled for 12:04 p.m. this upcoming Saturday. The spring game is open to the public, and fans are encouraged to park in the Anderson Parking Facility on South Campus. No admission will be charged for the 2024 spring game, and gates will open at 12:000 p.m.
The spring game will preview the Tommies 2024 team following an impressive third season at the Division I level. St. Thomas earned yet another top-3 finish in the Pioneer Football League (PFL), finishing second in 2023 with a conference record of 7-1. The Tommies additionally extended their NCAA-leading home field win streak to 31 consecutive games, posting a perfect 6-0 record at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in 2023. St. Thomas has not lost on its home field since December 2016, when the Tommies fell to UW-Oshkosh in the NCAA Tournament. St. Thomas has not lost a regular season home game at O'Shaughnessy Stadium since 2014 when the Tommies lost to former rival Saint John's 24-14 on Saturday, September 27.
St. Thomas announced its jam packed 2024 schedule earlier this year. The Tommies will play seven home games in 2024 and will host the University of Sioux Falls in their home opener on Thursday, August 29. It will be the first home night game in the DI era for Glenn Caruso's team and the seventh overall night game in the Caurso era. St. Thomas will also host Northern Iowa, Black Hills State, Stetson, San Diego, Drake and Dayton during the 2024 season.
