St. Thomas ranked 99th in NET Ranking ahead of matchup versus Montana

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- For the first time in program history, St. Thomas men's basketball was ranked among the top 100 in the NCAA Division I NET Rankings. The Tommies are ranked 99th of 364 programs nationally heading into Saturday's matchup against Montana, who won 24 games a season ago.

When the initial NET Rankings were released Dec. 1, St. Thomas was slotted 133rd and jumped within the top 100 following its road win over Northern Colorado on Dec. 4. The Bears were ranked 96th in the NET Rankings at the time before the Tommies came away with an 87-75 victory, winning its third game in as many tries during the Big Sky-Summit Challenge which began last season.

St. Thomas' next task is against Montana, which ranks 147th in the current NET Rankings, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Schoenecker Arena. The Grizzlies, the 2024-25 Big Sky Preseason Poll favorites, are coming off a win over South Dakota State to start its Big Sky-Summit Challenge schedule.

The Tommies lead all Summit League programs in the NET Rankings, followed by SDSU in 106th, South Dakota in 146th, and North Dakota State in 161st. St. Thomas ranks ahead of 14 Power Five programs (9 ACC, 2 Big Ten, 2 Big East, 1 Big 12).
