ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas men's and women's swim and dive programs continued to hold strong on the second day of the St. Thomas Invite. Thanks to several impressive swims by both programs, the Tommies retained their third place finishes on Friday, as both closed the day with well over 600 points. The St. Thomas women currently enter the final day of the invite with 710 points, while the Tommie men also sit in third place with a two-day score of 675.

MEN'S RESULTS:
The St. Thomas men continue to look for their first broken record of the home invite, as the Tommies once again came oh so close but were mere seconds away from a new top mark. Sophomore Charlie Folks (Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie) looked like he was within striking distance in the 400 IM, as he qualified for the "B" finals thanks to his time of 4:03.86 in prelims. In finals, Folks was .7 off his own program record, earning a sixth place finish in the race with a time of 4:01.87. Teammates Thomsen Yatso (Milwaukee, Wis. / Shorewood) and Miguel San Jose (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan) finished 12th and 15th in the race to score points for St. Thomas.

The Tommies impressed in several other races Friday evening, including the 200 medley relay. The team of Philip Jensen (Hastings, Minn. / Hastings), Sean Bannon (Rochester, Minn. / Century), Nicholas Salido (Kansas City, Mo. / Rockhurst) and Lucas Becker (Carver, Minn. / Chanhassen) swam their way to a third place finish in the relay, clocking a time of 1:30.53 in the process. Salido then went on to finish eighth in the 100 butterfly and swam a season best time of 50.14 in prelims.

Matt Glenna (Cottage Grove, Minn. / Park) represented St. Thomas in the "A" finals of the 200 freestyle, swimming the fourth fastest time in prelims at 1:40.78. The junior ultimately finished fourth in the race, swimming 1:42.49 in finals, while Morgan Gillard (Woodbury, Minn. / East Ridge) and Alex Foti (Waukesha, Wis. / Waukesha West) earned top-10 finishes with times of 1:42.18 and 1:43.40 respectively. Cole Johnson (Fitchburg, Wis. / Madison West) raced in the "C" finals, clocking a time of 1:44.30.

Bannon also represented the Tommies in an "A" final of a race, qualifying in the 100 breaststroke. The sophomore finished fourth after clocking a time of 56.32 in finals, while Ian Leonard (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego), Jensen Richard (Rochester, Minn. / Century) and Sam Sacor (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) competed in the "B" finals, earning top-10 finishes thanks to their times.

Jensen continued to dominate the backstroke races, finishing sixth in the 100 back with a time of 49.72. He was the lone St. Thomas swimmer to clock in under 50 seconds, while Becker finished 10th with a time of 51.29. John Wion (Ashley, Ohio / Big Walnut) finished just outside the top-10 and  was joined by teammate Carter Fask (Elmhurst, Ill. / Fenwick) in the "C" final of the race.

St. Thomas capped an exciting evening with a third place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, as the team of Folks, Glenna, Gillard and Foti clocked a time of 6:52.56 in the final race of the night.
