Tommies take down Roos for 1-0 Summit League victory

Women’s soccer earned their first conference win of the season on senior day
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas Women's soccer team (5-8-2 overall, 1-4-1 Summit League) scored early in the second half and never looked back, completing a 1-0 shutout over conference foe Kansas City (7-7-3 overall, 1-6-0 Summit League) on Sunday afternoon in front of the home crowd at South Field.
Lexi Huber scored her sixth goal of the season from Sophia Barjesteh and Tatum Trettel in the 18th minute as Kendell Ellis and Olivia Rowe combined for the nine-save shutout. It was the Tommies' fifth shutout of the season. Sofia Englund, Abby Brantner, and Ellie Tempero each played all 90 minutes of the victory.

The Tommies took their first lead of the Summit League calendar with Lexi Huber's single-season program record sixth goal of the season in the 18th minute. Sophia Barjesteh delivered a perfect lead pass through the defense from the center line as Tatum Trettel chased the ball down with no one to beat but the Kansas City goalkeeper, she made the unselfish extra pass to a wide-open Huber who finished off the play with a well-struck ball.
St. Thomas' early strike was the only tally of the first half for either side. Kendell Ellis made a trio of saves between the posts in her start. The senior was pulled at halftime for senior teammate, Olivia Rowe.
The Tommies outshot the Roos, 11-3 but both sides placed three shots on goal.
Kansas City came back with a strong second half outshooting the Tommies 11-3 with six shots on goal to St. Thomas' one. Olivia Rowe, in her first game since September 26, made six huge saves down the stretch to secure the 1-0 victory.
Sunday's win was the Tommies' first conference win of the season and first since October 8, 2023, last season against Oral Roberts.
