Galvin, Gustafson, Kealy all with 10+ kills and digs for second time

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The trio of Lauren Galvin, Ellie Gustafson and Morgan Kealy continued their double-double trends Thursday night to help St. Thomas volleyball to a sweep over North Dakota (28-26, 28-26, 25-15) at Schoenecker Arena. The Tommies improve to 12-7 overall and 4-3 in the Summit League while the Fighting Hawks fall to 8-10 overall and 1-6 in league play.

Thursday was the second match this season the trio all recorded double doubles, doing so previously on Sept. 20 at Green Bay. Galvin led the team with 14 kills and tied Kealy with a team high 13 digs, while Gustafson added 13 kills and 12 digs, and Kealy totaled 38 assists. The trio has accounted for all 23 double-double performances of the season, led by Kealy with 12 including three straight.

The early match dramatics began in set one as the game featured 10 ties and five lead changes, before a pair of kills from Tezra Rudzitis helped build momentum. After a North Dakota attack error, St. Thomas went ahead, though UND closed the gap again at 19-19 with a kill by Perugini. Despite UND's effort, back-to-back service errors allowed St. Thomas to reclaim the lead at 24-23. The Purple clinched the set 28-26 after a crucial kill by Gustafson, who capitalized on strong setups from Morgan Kealy throughout the game.

The Tommies relied on key kills from Gustafson and Galvin to pull out the set two win. The set saw a match high seven lead changes, with North Dakota leveling the score multiple times. St. Thomas capitalized on UND's errors, including four attack errors and two ball-handling mistakes, which helped the Tommies lead by as many as four, 16-12. UND chipped away to tie the match at 21-21 and later held set point, 26-25, before St. Thomas scored three straight on a kill from Addie Schmotzer, a block from Gustafson and Schmotzer and a ball handling error by UND.

St. Thomas dominated the final set against North Dakota, winning 25-15. The Tommies controlled the game from the start with a 7-0 run, including two kills by Tezra Rudzitis. The Purple extended its lead to as many as 10 and saw Galvin and Kealy close out the match with two kills and two service aces, respectively.
