Tommies continues stretch of home games on Saturday and Tuesday
St. Paul, Minn. -- St. Thomas Men's Soccer (1-4-1) continues their stretch of home games against Kansas City on Friday, Sep. 29th and Milwaukee on Oct. 3rd.
The Tommie and Kansas City match-up is the third time these two teams have met, each team with one victory. In their first season of DI, the Tommies fought from behind to defeat the Summit League opponent as it took a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory to close out its 2021 season on a winning streak.
The Tommie and Milwaukee non-conference match-up is the second time these teams have faced each other. In 2021, the Tommie defeated Panthers 1-0 in Milwaukee – it was the Purple's first non-conference and first road win.

Summit League Opener
The Tommies fell in the Summit League opener to the No. 19-ranked Denver Pioneers. Denver offense found two straight second half goals to lift the Pioneers to victory Saturday afternoon on South field.
It was a back-and-forth start to the game, with the first half ending scoreless for both teams. The Tommies attempted one shot in the first half, while the Pioneers put three on goal. Tommie goalkeeper, Tucker Mann, saved all three shots in the first half, shutting down all opportunities for the Pioneers.
Second half action continued as both teams competed to break the scoreless tie. In the 62nd minute, the Pioneers capitalized on their first shot on goal of the half, gaining the 1-0 lead. The Tommies continued to battle the rest of the second half trying to score the equalizing goal, as they tested the Pioneers goalkeeper with three shots on goal.
The Pioneers sealed their victory with a goal in the last minute of play to go up 2-0 and earn the Summit League win. Tucker Mann tallied two more saves in the second half to make his total five for the game.
Junior Jump
The St. Thomas juniors; Faris Colic, Charlie Holton, Keegan James, and Steevie Lamarre, are experienced Tommies that have been relied upon to drive the offense and play lockdown defense.
Faris Colic and Charlie Holton both scored their first goal of the season for the Tommies in the 2-2 draw against UNF on Monday, Sep. 4. Keegan James posted an assist on the game-tying goal by Colic.
Colic scored his second goal of the season against Chicago State, to help the Tommies earn their first win of the season.
Steevie Lamarre has competed in five games, recording 199 minutes at forward.
Graduate Student Spotlight
Graduate students Isaac Eckroth and Wes Lorrens have been key players for the Tommies since they began their journey at St. Thomas.
Defender, Wes Lorrens, transferred to St. Thomas and has played 39 games, recorded three goals and one assist, and totaling 2738 minutes with the Tommies.
Defender, Isaac Eckroth, has played his five seasons with the Tommies, competing in 55 games, tallying one goal and five assists in 4170 minutes played. Isaac leads the Tommies with minutes played in the DI-era, followed by Wes.
The Mann
Senior goalkeeper, Tucker Mann, has played three games in net for the Tommies, posting a 1-1-1 record during the 2023 season. Mann has played 291 minutes and posted a 1.55 GAA so far on the season.
Mann has competed in 25 games for the Tommie on his career, making a start in 23. He has made 116 saves and recorded a .744 SV% in four seasons with the Tommies.
Scouting the Roos
Kansas City (2-3-3, 0-0-1 Summit League) is led by fourth-year Head Coach Ryan Pore. Coach Pore led Kansas City to a 7-5-5 record in the 2022 season, which was the program's first winning season in 12 years.
The Roos are coming off a 1-1 draw in their Summit League opener to Omaha. The Roos had an explosive second half, attempting 12 shots and tying the match in the 89th minute penalty kick from Edson Murguia. Murguia is one of four Kansas City players to have played and started in all eight games.
Junior, Julien Le Bourdoulous (one goal, four assists), and first-year, Hector Taboada, currently lead the Roos offensively with six points apiece in eight games played.
Scouting the Panthers
Milwaukee (3-4-1, 1-2 Horizon) is led by Head Coach Kris Kelderman in his 12th season. The Panthers finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 1-8-8.
Juniors, David Cox and Raul Medina currently lead Milwaukee with eight points this season, both scoring three goals and tallying two assists.
Newcomer junior goalkeeper, Daniel Ibarra, has played in all eight games for the Panthers this season. Ibarra has recorded 32 saves and has posted a .696 SV% on the season.
