Summit League releases updated 2023 volleyball schedule

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Summit League announced an updated 2023 volleyball conference schedule Monday, which includes 16 matches for the St. Thomas volleyball program.
The league schedule, originally released in April, was updated following the departure of Western Illinois from the Summit League.
The Tommies begin conference action Sept. 21 with a home match at Schoenecker Arena against South Dakota State before a road weekend Sept. 28 and 30 at North Dakota State and North Dakota.
St. Thomas returns home to begin the month of October, facing Denver on Oct. 5 and Oral Roberts on Oct. 7 before hitting the road Oct. 12 at South Dakota. The Purple return home Oct. 14 to conclude the weekend against North Dakota State before another home matchup Oct. 17 against Kansas City.
The Tommies embark on a three-match road trip Oct. 19, 21 and 26, taking on South Dakota State, Omaha and Denver, respectively. St. Thomas wraps up its home schedule with matches Oct. 28 against North Dakota, Nov. 2 against South Dakota, and Nov. 4 against Omaha before concluding the season Nov. 11 at Oral Roberts and Nov. 14 at Kansas City.
St. Thomas opens its season with four pre-conference tournaments, beginning Aug. 25-26 at the UIC tournament in Chicago against UIC, Lindenwood and Oakland. The Tommies then open action at Schoenecker Arena Aug. 31-Sept. 2 with a tournament against Montana State, California Baptist and Milwaukee.
The Tommies wrap up their non-conference season at the DePaul Tournament Sept. 8-9 in Chicago and at the Green Bay Tournament Sept. 14-15 in Green Bay, Wis.
Thanh Pham enters his 21st season leading the program in 2023. The Tommies picked up non-conference wins at 14-win Montana State and 18-win Saint Louis, and swept Western Illinois in Summit League play. Emma Goerger and Tezra Rudzitis return after selections to the 2022 Summit League All-Freshman Team. Lauren Galvin, a 2021 Summit League All-Freshman Team selection, returns for her junior season after leading the squad in kills and service aces, and totaled seven double-doubles in 2022.
