Bartholomew, Moris strong efforts not enough in 7-2 loss at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. -- Upperclassmen Charlie Bartholomew and Max Moris powered the offense for St. Thomas Baseball during a 7-2 loss Sunday during the series finale at Creighton in Omaha, Neb.

Moris reached base four times, including two hits, with two runs and a double while Bartholomew went 3-of-4 from the plate with one RBI. Moris extended his team-best hitting streak to six games and reached base streak to eight games.

The duo notched their first hits of the day in the first inning, including a double from Moris to set up an RBI single by Brigs Richartz to go ahead 1-0.

The Bluejays tied the game with three hits in the bottom of the second inning before taking a 4-1 lead in the third. The lead was extended to five, 6-1, following a walk, triple and single with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Moris walked with one out in the top of the eighth inning to set up the final Tommie run of the game. He moved to third following a ground out and a wild pitch as Bartholomew singled to right field for his lone RBI of the game.

Bartholomew and Moris accounted for five of the Tommies' seven hits while the team left seven runners on base compared to 11 for the Bluejays. St. Thomas was 4-of-15 from the plate with runners on base while Creighton went 8-of-20, including 4-of-12 with runners in scoring position.

St. Thomas returns to action Tuesday, April 4 with a 3 p.m. game at Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn.
