Women's Tennis takes UNI to the wire, falls 4-3

Waterloo, Iowa -- On a night of closely-contested matches, host Northern Iowa pulled out a 4-3 win over St. Thomas Women's Tennis.
The Panthers (2-6-1) had scored a 6-1 win over the Tommies last season but went to the brink in this year's rematch. UNI won three tight contests to clim the doubles point, then split three of the six singles matches.
The Tommies (0-4) won at first, third and fourth singles with Marthe Degeorges, Jannah ElNemr and Shrichandrakala Tentu. But they came up a notch short despite a strong team effort.
St. Thomas competes Saturday here against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in an 11 a.m. match.
