Krenc makes six saves in loss to the Mavericks
OMAHA, Neb. – The St. Thomas men's soccer team fell in Summit League play to Omaha on Saturday afternoon. The Omaha offense found a second half goal to lift the Mavericks to victory in Nebraska.
Offensively, the Tommies launched 10 shots, putting five on goal. Gunnar Busch led the way, putting two shots on goal, both coming in the second half.
Moritz Krenc made six saves tonight for the Tommies, the second most saves he has made in a single game this season.
RECAP
It was a back-and-forth start to the game, with the first half ending scoreless for both teams. The Tommies attempted four shots in the first half, while the Mavericks put three on goal. Tommie goalkeeper, Moritz Krenc, saved all three shots in the first half, shutting down all opportunities for the Mavericks.
Second half action continued as both teams competed to break the scoreless tie. In the 68th minute, Omaha capitalized on their second shot on goal of the half, gaining the 1-0 lead. The Tommies continued to battle the rest of the second half trying to score the equalizing goal.
With 13 minutes left to play, Omaha was given a red card, and the Tommies had a player advantage. After the red card, the Tommies put four shots towards the goal, and tested the Omaha goalkeeper twice, however they could not find the equalizer. Omaha earned a hard fought Summit League victory on home field, 1-0
