Sam May sets school heptathlon record to lead Men's T&F

Minneapolis, Minn. -- Sam May broke a nine-year old Tommie Men's Track and Field indoor record in the heptathlon in the two-day University of Minnesota Jack Johnson Classic, which concluded Saturday on the Gophers' campus.
St. Thomas held out several athletes this weekend in the non team scored meet.
Sophomores May and Jack Rosner and junior Cameron Schulz placed 3-4-7 in a field of 16 athletes in the seven-event multi. May scored 5,177 to break Max Dunne's 2014 record score of 5,146 points that let him take third place at the NCAA Division III nationals.
This weekend, May had personal-bests of 6.99 in the 60 dash and 22-8 1-2 in the long jump.
Rosner scored 4,933 points, including a personal-best time of 7.05 in the 60 dash.
Schulz scored 4,459, including a personal-best 21-0 1-4 in the long jump.
Nathan Raddatz scored 4,165 and took 11th place in the event.
Two other Tommie men had personal bests: Brett Ringer took eighth in the 200 in 22.56; and Shane Aberg placed 10th in the weight throw in 49-4 1-2. Aberg also took 15th place in the shot put at 42-8 1-2.
Gary Afram placed fifth in the long jump (22-0 3-4) and eighth in the 60 dash at 6.91.
Isaiah Hopf placed fourth in the triple jump in 44-2 3-4.
