Hill drops 17 points in efficient night as Women’s Basketball falls at South Dakota State

Brookings, S.D. -- Sophomore guard Jade Hill recorded her third straight double-digit scoring night Thursday as St. Thomas Women's Basketball fell at South Dakota State, 99-57.
Hill led the Tommies (7-13, 2-8 Summit) with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, 1-of-2 from 3-point range and 4-of-8 from the free throw line. She added three steals, and two rebounds as the Jackrabbits (17-5, 10-0 Summit) extended a 26-10 first quarter lead into a 58-25 advantage by halftime.
Jo Langbehn put in the first Tommie basket to counter a game-opening 3-pointer from the Jackrabbits. After Langbehn's layup, SDSU went on a 10-0 run for an 13-2 lead after forcing St. Thomas to miss four field goals and four turnovers during the four-minute run.
South Dakota State continued to knock down shots through the first half, sinking 10-of-15 in the first quarter before 11-of-16 in the second. The Tommies converted just 10 field goals in the first half while allowing the Jackrabbits to score 15 points off 10 turnovers.
St. Thomas' 33-point deficit was extended to a game-high 43, 71-28, nearly five minutes into the second half. After scoring just two points in the first half, Hill finished the game with 15 points in the second half, including nine in the third quarter.
The Tommies were outrebounded, 29-19, which led to 10 second-chance points for the Jackrabbits compared to none for the Purple. St. Thomas gave up a season high 64.8 percent shooting to SDSU.
Langbehn and Jordyn Lamker each followed Hill in scoring with nine points each while Amber Scalia tallied eight with a team-high three rebounds.
St. Thomas closes out its weekend Saturday at 1 p.m. with the season series finale at South Dakota.
