Women's Tennis shines in first day of Gopher Invitational

Minneapolis, Minn. - The St. Thomas Women's Tennis Team had a strong showing on the first day of the three-day Gopher Invitational. Two Tommies won individual matches and two doubles teams won their matches in the event, which includes players from six regional Division I teams.
Individually, sophomore transfer Marthe Degeorges defeated Maya Arksey (South Dakota) 6-4, 6-1 and junior Nicole Snezhko defeated Lasya Mylavarapu (Northern Iowa) 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, junior Monterey Knewtson and freshman Naisha Srivastav defeated Charlotte Bowles and Angela Georgieva, from the University of North Dakota, 7-5. Junior Jannah El Nemr and Snezhko defeated Sonia Skobkareva and Sydney Weinberg from South Dakota, 6-2.
Additionally, El Nemr finished with a singles win with an opponent retire.
