Softball drops both games on Thursday at South Dakota State

Brookings, S.D. - St. Thomas softball (12-32, 7-10 Summit League) was swept on Thursday at South Dakota State (33-10, 14-2 Summit League).
Game one saw the Tommies held to just one run in a 10-1 loss in five innings against the Jackrabbits.
The lone run in the game was scored on a solo shot by Coryn Jacobson, who was 1-1 at the plate, with a home run and a walk. Jacobson has now hit a home run in back-to-back Summit League series after hitting her first Division I home run last weekend against North Dakota. Third baseman Sarah Hudson tallied the other Tommie hit in the loss.
Junior Isabelle True was tagged for six runs in four innings of work. Grace Bennett into the game in relief and allowed four runs in 0.2 innings.
St. Thomas was no hit in the second game, dropping it 10-2, in game two of the doubleheader. Two Tommies reached by way of a walk, as Megan Baniecke and Maddie Grad both reached on balls.
Baniecke allowed six runs (five earned) in the loss. Kendall Hopkins and Grace Bennett both pitched in relief, with Hopkins allowing four runs in an inning, and Bennett getting two outs with no runs allowed.
