Bloomington, Minn. – The St. Thomas Women's Tennis Team finished their 2021-22 campaign in a tightly contested match against the University of North Dakota, falling by a score of 4-3.
The Tommies honored two seniors in Olivia Paradise and Brooke Hapuku following Saturday's match. Both Paradise and Hapuku finished their collegiate careers with wins, Paradise claiming her match by scores of 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), and 6-2 in the No. 3 line. Hapuku claimed straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
"We fought today in our last match of the season," said Head Coach Lois Arterberry. "Senior day, we had both Oliva and Brooke pull their matches out. We're very, very proud of what they've been able to accomplish over the last couple of years at St. Thomas – winning the MIAC to now making history as the first ladies that competed at the Division I level for St. Thomas. Just being the two to finish it out today. We were super proud of them. We also had a win from Tentu, which was really good."
Freshman Shrichandrakala Tentu scored the Tommies third point, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
In doubles action, the Fighting Hawks claimed the point, claiming all three doubles matches. The sophomore duo of Monterey Knewtson and Jannah El Nemr played a tightly contested match, but the Fight Hawks claimed a 7-5 victory.
"Overall, we fought hard today. This gives a look into the future for what St. Thomas Women's Tennis has to come," Arterberry added.
The Tommies finished their 2021-22 season with a 4-14 record and 1-6 in Summit League action.
