Shooting woes doom Men’s Basketball at Montana State

Bozeman, Mont. -- A tough shooting night doomed St. Thomas Men's Basketball Thursday night during an 82-65 loss at Montana State in Bozeman, Mont. The Tommies shot a season-low 27.6 percent from the field as they fall to 7-4 overall.
Brooks Allen began the game with back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Tommies a 6-5 lead. The lead traded three times over the first four minutes before the Tommies went cold from the floor.
The Purple failed to connect on another field goal until 9:57 in the half to trail, 18-12. Montana State quickly extended the lead to double digits, holding it for a 41-30 lead at halftime.
After trailing by as many as 21 points, the Tommies fought back to within 10 points multiple times. Andrew Rohde hit two 3-pointers during a 13-2 Tommie run to cut the score to 66-56 with 7:27 to play. The Bobcats scored six straight points before holding off the Tommie rally.
Rohde led the Tommies with 22 points, nine rebounds and four steals while Allen totaled 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
Montana State outscored St. Thomas in the paint, 34-14. Despite the Tommies recording 11 steals and giving away eight turnovers, MSU outscored St. Thomas in points off turnovers, 14-7.
St. Thomas continues its quick road trip Saturday with a 7 p.m. tip-off at Idaho State.
