Tommie Baseball season starts February 17 as 2023 schedule released

St. Paul, Minn. -- The 2023 St. Thomas Baseball schedule was released Tuesday, as announced by Head Coach Chris Olean. The Tommies begin their second season in NCAA Division I play and the 14th under Olean.
The Tommies begin their season Feb. 17 and end May 20, which features 52 games and 12 at Koch Diamond in St. Paul, Minn.
The season-opening series will be held Feb. 17-19 at Cal State Bakersfield in Bakersfield, Calif. St. Thomas will remain in California Feb. 24-26 to take on Sacramento State. The Tommies begin play in March with a three-game series at Saint Louis.
The Tommies return to true road action March 10-12 at UIC in Chicago followed by a single game against Iowa March 15 in Iowa City, Iowa. The Summit League schedule begins March 17-19 with a three-game series at Oral Roberts.
After playing two games at Kansas State March 21-22, St. Thomas will open its home schedule March 24-26 with a three-game series against Western Illinois. The Tommies will then face Creighton in Omaha, Neb., March 31-April 2 before again facing Minnesota April 4 in Minneapolis.
The Summit League schedule continues April 7-9 at Northern Colorado, followed by a single game April 10 at Air Force, before a three-game home series against North Dakota State April 14-16. St. Thomas will Minnesota for one game April 19 and 26, before and after a three-game series at South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D.
The Tommies will play back-to-back three-game series at home April 28-30 against Omaha and May 5-7 against Oral Roberts. The final league games of the season will be May 12-14 against Western Illinois on the road. The season finale will be a three-game series at Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights, Kent.
St. Thomas returns nine starters, including six position players and three pitchers, while seeing the departure of four total starters. The Tommies also bring in 12 newcomers for 2023.
