Missoula, Mont. -- St. Thomas Men's Basketball faced offensive struggles Thursday night during a 78-59 loss to Montana to open the Zootown Classic in Missoula, Mont.
The Grizzlies (1-2) defense limited the Tommies (2-2) to eight points and two field goals over the first 11 minutes. Facing a 25-8 deficit, Ryan Dufault and Andrew Rohde scored back-to-back baskets followed by free throws from Brooks Allen to cut the Montana lead to 11. The Grizzlies extended the lead again and went into halftime with a 43-28 lead.
Parker Bjorklund put in a dunk to open scoring in the second half while a jumper from Will Engels brought the deficit back to 11, 43-32. The Tommies never pulled to within less than 11 points while the Grizzlies took a game-high 19-point lead, 72-53, with just over two minutes to play.
