Women's Tennis opens 2022 season, falls to Gophers

Minneapolis, Minn. - Tommie Women's Tennis opened its 2022 season and Division I era with Saturday afternoon's 7-0 loss to unbeaten Minnesota on the Gophers' home court.
It's the first of eight non-conference matches and lone Power 5 opponent for the Purple (0-1) over the next five weeks.
Minnesota (6-0) claimed the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins at Nos. 2-3. The Gophers won all six singles matches in straight sets.
St. Thomas senior Olivia Paradise lost 6-1, 6-3 at first singles to lead her team. Freshman Abigail Bremel made her college team debut and lost 6-2 , 6-0 at third singles. Seven players saw action for the Tommies.
Coach Lois Arterberry's team will travel to the Chicago area next Friday through Sunday Feb. 4-6 to face Lewis, Northern Illinois and Chicago State.
