Offense can't get untracked in Men's Hockey road loss

Big Rapids, Mich. -- Host Ferris State scored a pair of insurance goals 1:37 apart early in the third period to build a 3-0 lead in Friday night's 3-1 defeat of St. Thomas in CCHA men's hockey play.
The Bulldogs (7-16 overall, 5-8 CCHA) outshot the Tommies 34-12. They took the lead to stay with a goal 5:37 into period two.
The Purple got on the scoreboard as Cameron Recchi scored a power play goal with 3:33 left in the contest, assisted by Nolan Sawchuk and Tim Piechowski. The Toms had another power play and pulled goalie Peter Thome but were unable to capitalize.
Thome recorded 31 saves.
The teams play again Saturday at 5:07 p.m. Minnesota time to close the season series.
