Host Gonzaga Men's Soccer scored in the 52nd and 84th minutes to post a 2-0 non-conference victory over St. Thomas on a soggy Friday night in Spokane, Wash.
In a game that started in rain and fog, the Bulldogs (3-2) recorded a 16-8 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Niklas Martensson had six saves in goal for St. Thomas (0-6). Trailing 1-0 for much of the second half, the Toms denied a couple of good Bulldog rushes, but were unable to convert on a few scoring opportunities of their own as the half wore on. Gonzaga added the insurance goal with under 7:00 to play.
St. Thomas plays at UW-Green Bay next Wednesday.
