Epp and Pep (Cater) lead W. Soccer's 5-0 home win

4/14/2021 6:24:00 PM | Women's Soccer

Senior Paige Cater and junior Kristen Epperly each scored two goals and junior Lexi Serreyn added one as Tommie Women's Soccer opened its home season with Wednesday's 5-0 defeat of Gustavus on a chilly day at South Field.

St. Thomas was playing its first home game in 517 days dating back to the 2019 postseason. Coach Sheila McGill's team extended two long unbeaten streaks -- an active streak of 19 games in a row (14-0-5) and a home string of 27 without a loss (23-0-4). The St. Thomas defense has shutout 10 of its last 12 opponents dating back to October 2019.

Senior Kate Heimer added two assists, and senior Sarah Pasternak had three saves in net in the opening 45 minutes. The Toms had a 19-4 advantage in shots on net as they handed Gustavus (2-1) its first loss.
