Women's Hockey falls 4-3 to Pipers in home debut

2/17/2021 9:51:00 PM | Women's Hockey

St. Thomas Women's Hockey scored twice in a 3:30 span of the final period to pull within one goal, but the clock ran out and Hamline took a 4-3 non-conference win Wednesday night in Mendota Heights.

Piper freshman goalie Ava Bailey stopped 38 of 41 shots, and Molly Garin contributed a goal and an assist for Hamline (4-0).

The Tommies (1-1) never led and scrapped back in a bid to overcome deficits of 2-0 and 4-1.

Allie Monrean scored with 1:13 left in the second period to cut the Piper lead to 2-1, but Garin scored 13 second later to regain a two-goal lead for the Pipers.

St. Thomas freshman Isabel Lippai and senior Alyssa Wallace both scored, the latter on a power play to make it 4-3 with 7:00 remaining, but the Toms were unable to get the tying goal.

St. Thomas is scheduled to continue a busy week with 7 p.m. home games this Friday and Saturday against St. Ben's and Bethel.
