St. Thomas Women’s Basketball makes history with first win of the Division I era at South Carolina State

Orangeburg, S.C. – The St. Thomas Women's Basketball Team won its first NCAA Division I game on Thursday night as it defeated South Carolina State, 65-50, improving to 1-2 on the season.
"It was a total team effort, from the administration to the girls in the program and the coaches we have here," said Head Coach Ruth Sinn. "I'm just so happy for the girls in our program. It was a hard-fought win. The team showed a lot of resiliency and purpose moving through."
Grad student F Erin Norling led the team with 19 points. She was one-of-four Tommies to post double-digit points. She was joined by grad student F Kaia Porter (11), sophomore F Kate Burns (11) and senior G Amanda Pollard (10).
The Tommies return to action Saturday as they continue their Carolina trip against Presbyterian. Tip-off is slated for 12:00 p.m. CT.
